Because aluminum and metallic ingredients cause many people to suffer allergic reactions, including underarm rashes and itching, and because scientific research linking cancer and Altzheimer's to these metallics found in most anti-perspirants and deodorants, many people seek an alternative product. ALRA Non-Metallic Deodorant is a gentle natural stick deodorant for non-irritating protection agaist odor and wetness. Lichen Extract provides the natural bactericide and fungicide, which act to reduce micrococci and diphtheroids. The active compoent is usnic acid, extracted from alpine lichen (usnea barbatal). Oil of Cypress is considered a natural deodorant and has astringent, capillary-constricting properties. Its active constituents are tannins, and it provides a fresh natural (not chemical) fragrance.

Like all ALRA Care Products, the deodorant is free of harsh chemicals, and contains no alcohol, no artificial fragrances and no added color.
