This low-cost X-Ray Output Detector offers a dynamic means of demonstrating x-ray generator performance. It is used with a storage or camera oscilloscope to display the intensity-time relationship of an x-ray beam. To use, the detector is placed in the x-ray beam, and the output cable is connected to the oscilloscope input. The resulting wave shape patterns are used to calibrate and/ or diagnose malfunctions in the x-ray generator. The detector supplies a crisp 200 mV signal at standard diagnostic conditions (80 kVp, 100 mA). This extremely high output permits the simple interpretation of oscilloscope displays.
